Various times of the year
This page has been created for subjects that are difficult to put a time frame on, subjects with a different set up from the standard or unexpected opportunities that arise out of the blue.
The best way of knowing as soon as such opportunities become available is to follow my business Facebook page which is Scottish Photography Hides, but I will update this page also.
Here is a list of subjects plus a rough guide on when they traditionally are available
DIPPER: This revolves around nest timings and each year it can change slightly on sites and conditions. However mid April to the first week of May is traditionally a good time. Once a nest is located (usually late March) I can work out when they will be feeding young
WATER RAIL: This site needs several factors to work. Cold weather, low water levels and workable tide times. Because of this its best to book at short notice and best time of year is November through to end February.
FOX & CUBS: Its impossible to know in advance when and where the Fox will den and bring up her cubs. Traditionally mid to late May is when this is available and I usually know early May.
BACKLIT BADGERS or PINE MARTEN: These are available all year, but it is not possibe to do this if others have booked the standard set up. This can be arranged no earlier than 2 weeks before the date so I know not to take other bookings.
REFLECTION POOL PINE MARTEN: These are available all year, but it is not possibe to do this if others have booked the standard set up. This can be arranged no earlier than 2 weeks before the date so I know not to take other bookings.
SAND MARTIN in nest chamber feeding young: This is obviously dependant on them using my nest chamber so I will not know until late April/early May
KINGFISHER in nest chamber feeding young: This is obviously dependant on them using my nest chamber so I will not know until late April/early May
LONG TAILED TIT collecting feathers to line the nest: Most years I locate Long Tailed Tits building nests and I create a set up where you can photograph them hovering and gathering feathers. This is usually mid March.
FIGHTING GOLDFINCHES: May through to June usually
GREEN WOODPECKER feeding young: Late May through June usually
UP AND COMING PROJECTS: I will be soon trying to get 3 new subjects working. Do not hold your breath as it might all be in vain. These are Barn Owl, Kestrel and Goshawk.

From the 7:15am start you can finish whenever you wish.
Because of our schedule we cannot meet any later than the time stated
It is our policy not to give out our number as in the past it caused to much hassle as we were receiving calls all day and night. We were forced to make the decision to only deal with emails, Facebook messenger or Instagram messages.
No, you are greeted at the meeting point then are told to follow the site manager to the hide where you park up. The hide is only a short walk from here.
NO, All bait must be supplied by Scottish Photography hides.
If you would like a hide to yourself the number of seats in that particular hide must be paid for.
Only if no other clients are using the hide that day.
Unfortunately no, We do our best to attract them regularly and have a high hit rate. Of course there will be days a no show occurs, but we are dealing with wildlife here so you must understand this can happen.
If the cancelation occurs within one month of the hide date you will unfortunately lose your day altogether. If it is over a month away you will be able to choose another date that must be taken within a 12 month period of the cancelation. With Covid-19 being a factor in recent times we have extended this period to 2 years. However no refunds will be issued on any cancelations.
