Cuckoo Hide

13:15 – 15:15

May Only

Max People: 10

In 2022, we will have several Cuckoo photography hides to choose from and all of them are set in beautiful remote locations and have been thoughtfully positioned to offer the best lighting and backdrops.

A short walk required for most of these hides. Please note that this workshop will be over once the Cuckoo has visited several times which from start to finish can only last a relatively short period of time.

Sometimes it may only visit the perch once, but if this is the case it almost always stays on the perch for 5 minutes allowing hundreds of photographs to be taken.

This hide usually only takes 1 or 2 hours from meeting to it is over and because of the shortness of a session we have added some combination days that allows other hides to be booked so you can fill your day.

It is worth adding that we have now done these birds for 9 years and have only had a handful of blank session in this time.

However nothing is assured in wildlife and because of the time and money spent setting this up we can not offer refunds in the unlikely event of a no show.

This is certainly the most amazing wildlife encounter we have witnessed in over 40 years in the field.

Because of its popularity we are opening for bookings now as several people missed out in 2021 because of lack of availability.

Additional Information

Please be aware we are dealing with a shy bird that can be unpredictable. For this reason we may have to change the desired subject and/or schedule if it is thought the bird will not show. In this is the case you will be offered substitute subjects at the same or greater value at no extra cost.

No refunds or free days will be offered if a now show or a change in your scheduled day does happen.

The walk to the spot is only a few hundred yards, very flat and easy to get to on foot. Due to the location of this spot, there are no toilets on site.

Meeting Point & Time
Meeting is at 13:15pm Beside the War Memorial at, Ringford, DG7 2AL

It is important that clients are there sharp as the hide manager only has a 30 minute window and if you are late you may loose your day. It would also be appreciated if you could be suited and booted and have all required kit ready prior to the meeting. Thanks in advance.

FAQ

From the start time that is around lunchtime the Cuckoo is usually over and done with in an hour. If we do not get a showing in this period you will be offered to try at least one different hide at another location. As this experience is so short we recommend booking another subject on the same day to fill your day.

Not for this subject

It is our policy not to give out our number as in the past it caused to much hassle as we were receiving calls all day and night. We were forced to make the decision to only deal with emails, Facebook messenger or Instagram messages.

No, you are greeted at the meeting point then are told to follow the site manager to the hide where you park up. The hide is only a short walk from here.

NO, All bait must be supplied by Scottish Photography hides.

If you would like a hide to yourself the number of seats in that particular hide must be paid for. If you want the whole site to yourself it is a high cost and a price can be arranged.

Only if no other clients are using the hide that day.

Unfortunately no, We do our best to attract them regularly and have a high hit rate. Of course there will be days a no show occurs, but we are dealing with wildlife here so you must understand this can happen. On the rare days it does not turn up you will be offered the opportunity straight after to try another hide quite close by.

If the cancelation occurs within one month of the hide date you will unfortunately lose your day altogether. If it is over a month away you will be able to choose another date that must be taken within a 12 month period of the cancelation. With Covid-19 being a factor in recent times we have extended this period to 2 years. However no refunds will be issued on any cancelations.
