Pre-arranged (evenings only)
Available Year Round
The Otter Photography Hide is quite an experience with you being sat in a comfortable chair only around 10ft away from your subject at eye level.
It is only a short walk to his hide, you basically park in a secure car park and it is situated about 40 metres away.
We supply 2 flash units with a receiver for each photographer. The hide manager then helps you with settings to activate the flashes remotely. It’s all straightforward and all you need to know is how to change aperture, iso, shutter speed and to put on single shot. It’s really that simple. On booking please add a note to what camera body you use.
For the Otters you are only needing around 100mm to 120mm focal length on a full frame camera. We recommend to use a beanbag or a gimbal head. The hide has plates for all 4 spaces.
With the subjects being so close it is important that you have good hide etiquette and are quiet.
Disturbance must be kept to a minimum.
Do not wander in and out of the hide unless completely necessary
No gaps in the netting making yourself visible in any way from outside.
No sudden lens movements
Noise to be kept to a minimum
Please take all your mess home
The site is covered by CCTV with audio.
Anyone found to be flouting the rules will not be welcome back to any hides run by Scottish Photography Hides.
PLEASE NOTE: You will be expected to be in the hide at least 4 hours after sunset to maximise your chances however there is no obligation on the time you spend in the hide and it’s entirely up to you how long you give it. Just do not complain if you have a no show if you do go early.

If the cancelation occurs within one month of the hide date you will unfortunately lose your day altogether. If it is over a month away you will be able to choose another date that must be taken within a 12 month period of the cancelation. With Covid-19 being a factor in recent times we have extended this period to 2 years. However no refunds will be issued on any cancelations.
