FLASH TOURS

*All Flashes, transmitters, receivers etc supplied*

The plan is to start around 2pm on the Friday (Times will be staggered for each group) where we will photograph the Otter family one night, Pine Martens on another and Badger/Tawny Owl/Grey Heron on another evening and with all subjects you will be using flash.

Despite being organised as an evening tour the daytime hides will be included in the package to make the most of the weekend where you will have a choice of 2 hides from the Sparrowhawk, Kingfisher or Red Squirrel jumping/reflection pool/portrait hides.

As this is mainly a nocturnal tour we will be starting the day hides around 10am. (You can go earlier by yourself if you wish)

As a guide the Otters are usually finished 2 hours after dark with lots of visits in this period.

The Pine Marten is a bit less predictable and is usually in 2 hours after sunset.

The Badger Pool sees the Tawny owl/Heron in from dusk with the Badgers usually following a couple of hours later

The Sparrowhawk hide offers lots of action from various subjects all day long and the Red Squirrel hide is constant with several different Red Squirrel showing all day long. Here you can also get Sparrowhawk, Buzzard plus a host of woodland birds.

The Kingfisher is almost always regular on the dates these tours are taken place

Please do not be intimidated by the use of flash. Everything is set up prior to your sessions and all you need to know is how to change your ISO, it’s really that simple.

There will be 12 places available on each tour

Based in Dumfries and Galloway.

Lenses required (Full frame) are 400 to 500mm for pine Marten, Sparrowhawk, jumping squirrel and Kingfisher.

70-200mm for Otter and Badger pool (Otter is around 100mm and Badgers 200mm or there abouts.

NEW NEW NEW….One to One or One to Two Fill in flash Kingfisher Workshops.

This is a new venture where you will be fully guided by Alan McFadyen. Alan will supply all the flashes, receivers, transmitters etc and guide you through the day. Fill in flash is a game changer in most conditions. On bright Sunny days it removes shadows and on dull and or wet days it makes the difference between a poor photo and a stunning photo.

Not only will you learn about flash, but Alan will teach you on many other things during the day on how to make the most of your photography sessions giving tips and secrets on how to optimise a days photography. I cant give to much away here for obvious reasons.

The hide will be exclusive and there are no set dates as this can be arranged on booking when it suits. However it will be between November and February.

Cost is £350 for 1 person or £650 for 2 people.
